    Unique bullet find...

My GF shot at a hog on Saturday evening. The distance is about 130 yards to the feeder, surrounded by a mesh fence. We went down to the pen because she said she had dropped the pig. We got there and no pig. Closer examination where the pig had been standing and she found this laying on the ground. It's what's left of her 50 gr. X bullet out of her .22/250. She and I are the only one shooting X bullets so I know its hers. It appears to me that she hit hit the fence and must have hit it pretty square because the bullet mushroomed exactly as its supposed to. It also appears that some of it got sheared off on impact.

GF said the pig jumped and squealed at the shot just as others have done that she killed. We found no blood or hair. I'm guessing the bullet lost so much velocity when it hit the fence that it didn't have enough energy to penetrate that pig. I thought it was kinda odd since every pig she's shot has dropped immediately or within 10 yards and that 50 gr. X bullet at 3600+ fps has passed through everyone one of them. Even the one that I guessed is close to 300 lbs.

    Pretty cool find anyway.

That pig needs to go buy a lotto ticket.

Thanks for sharing, it just wasn't that hog's day to die.

    Regards,

You should make her a necklace or something out of it!

        That is 1 in 100,000
I am amaZED you found it! Its hard to believe it did not penetrate the skin or stayed on line to hit the hog.

It probably sheared off on the pig's shield... everyone knows bullets can bounce off hogs. ;-)

I tracked a big bull elk for a day and a half with my grandpa after he shot it through a big pine tree. 14" diameter pine took most of the juice off a 180 grain TSX from his 300 H&H. We only found drops of muscle blood, just enough in the snow to identify the bull from all the other animals. Never did catch up to him.
