    Crossbow recommendations

I’m looking at getting a crossbow . I understand the “ you get what you pay for “ so I’m looking for a little advice on a good , mid-range priced crossbow .

Tenpoint really leads the crossbow pack by a long shot but you can find the same quality and many of the features in their Wicked Ridge line.

I had an Excalibur for several years. They are bullet proof. If getting a compound cross bow, my first pick would be Skorpyd, then maybe Ten Point. The Skorpyd Aculeus is pretty awesome..

10 Point or Ravin for me. Only reason I say Ravin, is the tiny axle to axle, which is advantageous from a blind. Otherwise strait up tenpoint.

My dad told me this weekend he wanted to sell one of his Excalibur. He uses the youth model anymore. Said the other one is too hard to cock at his age. I don't know any of the specifics on it but he killed plenty of critters when he shot it.

I started with a Barnett Jackal as a budget crossbow. My goal was to get something faster than 300 fps for less than $300. Had a lot of success with it but decided to upgrade to a Ten Point Turbo GT because it's faster, axle-to-axle is significantly narrower and the scope rail is more rigid.

Not sure what all is out there in your price range but I would recommend looking for crossbows with rigid aluminum scope mount risers and as much speed as you an afford. Everything after that is a nice-to-have rather than have-to-have IMHO.

I use a Stryker Strikezone 350 for whitetail and feral hunts. Easy to shoot and carry.
The newer version may be of interest, $450 range.

                    ^^^^^^

                    I've got a Stryker 350 also.
I haven't shot many xbows so cant really compare..... But others who have say the trigger and speed of mine is great. And only 135#s, I think. Easy to cock.
I chronoed it in the 340's. And it shoots tennis ball size groups at 30 yds, with 4 blade 115gr Muzzys.

For a budget friendly bow that has more then earned it's value with us has been the Crossman Sniper 370.
My son has taken several doe, and pigs with it so far and absolutely no complaints. I also like that the stock is adjustable, as well as the forearm. Makes it fit each shooter.

My boys have a wicked ridge. It is excellent. It is NOT for the upper limb disabled like most think. I couldn't cock it for about 3 months after shoulder surgery.

I’ll second the Sniper 370. Quiet accurate and inexpensive. Best bang for the buck. Academy had them for around 250 on Black Friday. My Dad bought Mom one last Christmas. She has stacked deer up since.
