    Whitetail and Yotes

I was just wondering what others have observed when it comes to deer and
coyotes interacting. I know when you have a pack of coyotes, deer will keep a closer eye on them. This fella could care less that the coyote was there.

I hunted a place in Eagle Pass for a few years and we watched coyotes eating corn under the feeder and the deer didn't seem to mind. It was always a single coyote.

Some years ago, I watched a young spike running from a couple of coyotes. I don't know it they ever caught up to him though.

            Great footage.

I've watched does blow on them and then hightail it away.

Hey Les, saw this coyote show up on the Blackjack Peninsula last year after I started feeding Golden Nuggets at one of my setups. She would eat it just like it was dog food, although the deer didn't seem to care for it much. What's the old saying about cats having 9 lives?!

Both of those are cool videos. I think this falls into the "it depends" category. I have heard of deer having adverse reactions to yotes and I have heard of them not caring also. The same holds true for hogs. A few weeks ago I was at the ranch and I saw a large boar cross the sendero about 200 yards down on a trot about five minutes before my feeder went off. I never saw that hog again until right at dark when seven does came into my feeder. That boar would run out of the thick brush full blast and chase them off and then get back into the thick stuff as quickly as possible. This went on for a few minutes until the does had enough and left completely. This hog did not want any part of being close to that feeder during the daylight but did not want the does to have any of the corn either. I have also seen hogs and deer eating at a feeder and never pay each other any attention.
