I just ordered the Low and Throw but, I have a slight hang up with the motor being IN the corn bin.....
Has anyone had any problems with corn dust or anything period?
been puttin' the motor (Dayton 12V) inside for years and never had one go bad. Only thing I ever did was silicone the holes where the bolts go through the motor. They have gaskets, but I never trusted 'em...
I've been wanting to increase feed capacity at one of my spots and decided to give the 1000# Low and Throw a shot. I've read several good reviews on here, below are some pics and comments as well.
-It's overall height is right at 5ft, actually a few inches shorter than the ASF 600# sled feeder it replaced.
- The varmint resistant design is very nice, but also leads to some maintenance limitations as well. I've read the motor is sealed, which is great. But in the event that the motor would fail and the feeder is full of corn, time to get a bucket to scoop or disassemble from below to drain. Fingers crossed this never happens. If the funnel/spinner were to get clogged, the bottom plate would have to be removed to access. Not a big deal though, 4 bolts.
- The timer/battery box is awesome, easily accessible, appears weather tight and no exposed wires.
- Latches are "yeti style" which is cool, they are advertised as 'all weather' so I'm assuming they are of some sort of UV resistant elastomer. We'll see how they hold up.
- Everything fits nicely in the battery box, it comes with a 12V 4Ah battery. A 7Ah would probably not be recommended as it only would fit vertically...not good (potential acid leak, ect)
- Last pic is qty20-50# bags
- It throws approx 20-25 ft in each direction which is pretty much as advertised (50ft dia.)
- Very little corn ends up under the feeder or on the plates which is great.
Ignore the piles of corn on the ground, that's due to a buddy who doesn't know how to carefully pickup paper corn bags
All around, very happy with the purchase. Good luck yall!
Any place to buy one of these between Houston and Fredricksburg?

Check out the Lamco website. The have a list and map of dealers. I would also call around for pricing as I have seen a difference from dealer to dealer.
