I have one that got rectangular windows. Ive since added screen over the upper 4" and the bottom 4 or 5. They started as 23 tall by 8 wide. 3 windows
This years blind got 10x16 which gives a 9 wide and 15 tall window. 4 windows but only need 3 really.
It helps if you know exactly how you want the blind set prior to cutting holes. Both of mine have another window framed in that was never cut out for use. I like to be able to back into a corner and not be silhouetted.
Im with you on building your own. Your budget is the only thing that stops you. Like I said, I have less than what one plastic blind costs in 2 builds that will last a lifetime
I’m not much help on building blinds but I will throw this out there. Plywood, sheet metal or plastic walls and roofs are much better at containing or help containing scent than netting, tarps or burlap wraps.
For those of you that hunt out of Bow blinds, What style shooting window do y'all prefer? Vertical, horizontal, square, circle, oval?
You dont want them to big what ever shape you want. Mainly to not be seen.
First sit in a chair the same height you will have in your blind. Get someone to measure your sitting bow height at full draw while aiming at the distance your planning on shooting.
This will change according to how high your blind is off the ground. Go 6 inches below on the bottom. Then go just high enough you dont have to crouch over to see.
Personally I like 12 x 16 tall.
