I am the exact opposite. When my wife and I built our house I was not interested in one but she insisted on a fireplace so we have a fireplace. Been in the house 5 years now and I believe there has been 2 fires in it.

Love ours! I need more indoor wood storage. my wife is too lazy to go to the side yard to get more so i come home and the gas starter is the only thing burning!

we have a fire almost as soon as the AC gets turned off. just wish i could have afforded to do all brick like the OP. thats really nice!

ours is an insert, no blower but does make a difference in our open living room and kitchen area. difference enough that i get to turn off the heater as long as im tending the fire.

Looks good. I love having a fire, generally any time the low temp is below 50 we have one. It's a tie between my wife and dog over who likes it more, they will both camp out next to it all evening.
