One redeeming quality of a gas fireplace

After the “fireplace” is turned off, the porcelain logs retain their heat like crazy. As soon as we shut ours we off, I close the flue with an oven mitt and the retained heat will keep my kids’ bedrooms upstairs warm for several hours.
