I love cooking with fat/bacon but this is a little over the top even for me...

OK...I was out helping set up at the SA rodeo today and noticed a new food booth setting up...they are right on the main drag back in the back...(Freeman Street)

Now, I cook beans and tortillas with lard, love using bacon for flavor in lots of my cooking, etc. I'm not a fat hater freak. I love the stuff, but my initial reaction was that these guys are going over the top...

    Chicken Fried Bacon????

    Am I missing something?

I may have to try it out. I might be missing another fine heart food.

Are they regular slices or do they use a bigger piece of the bacon slab?

They use six slices of bacon for each piece, and then you dunk it in cream gravy. Sodalak's in Snook. You have to take your cardiologist with you when you eat there.

Thick sliced bacon works best. You can use your favorite chicken fried steak batter and you need a deep fryer. Or I use a cast iron skillet with about 1/2 grease in it. Have your cardiologist on speed dial.

Its actually really good . I've had it at the place in Snook before. For that meal, we ate: chicken fried bacon, chicken fried steak, french fries, and onion rings.....and a side salad. LOL

Cosmic, what do you do at the rodeo? My dad works in the auction barn during the sales.

Lol, I'll second that. I can feel my arteries clogging up.

Were either of you two in Freer this morning at Liberty Cafe? There were 5 guys sitting at a table discussing this same thing, and one mentioned Snook.

I had it at the Snook Steak House also....thought I was going to need artery liposuction when I left.

Yep, far as I know Mr Soudalak invented it. He was even on a food network show one time because of it.
