Amazing memories... And need advice on knife maker

So, recently I stumbled on a piece of 2x10 that I saved from a trip I took with two of my best friends...

This was our last big fishing trip we took before we all graduated from college, got careers, got married and went our separate ways. This was back in 2013. It was the best fishing trip I have ever had and not just because it was the best bass fishing I have ever been on in my whole life. (Two of us caught our PB bass. I caught two 7 pounders and one of the other guys caught an 8.5 and 10. All of them were caught the same day.) The reason it was the best trip ever was the comradery. We still, to this day, keep in touch and I consider them two of the best dudes I have ever met in this world. We often talk about and reminisce about that weekend.

And that leads me to the piece of wood I was talking about. We ended up fileting some of the fish we caught because we tent camped and even took some fish home to enjoy (Not something tournament anglers like us typically did). Anyway, we found an old piece of 2x10 laying around and used it to filet the fish. Not sure why but that old piece of 2x10 became really special to me and I always planned on cleaning it up and hanging it as a decoration in my house. I had completely forgotten about it until I stumbled on it the other day.

That leads me to this question... Does anyone know someone who could take an old cracked piece of 2x10 and make us some nice knives using the wood as a handle? I thought that would be a great idea for a gift to give my friends who share this awesome memory with me.

What about using the wood as the display? Have someone laser out the “pocket” an inlay the knife.

Interesting. I am not quite positive exactly what you mean... Do you have a picture of what that would look like?

Check out this thread. Use the 2 x 10 as the display case for the knives.
