Apt office recv'd, cashed rent check but failed to update payment. Now..

I've received a Rent Past Due notice with late fees yesterday. Today, we verified my check was received and cashed in a timely manner-an "oversight". This evening, I have a Notice of Lockout Procedure letter on my door with verbage containing the words Demand, Failure, Vacate, Eviction and Legal Action.
I'm pretty hot. Those words don't mend well when it's been verified the rent's paid, not to mention the unpleasantness of receiving such motices.
It's quite possible they initialed today's notice before our talk this afternoon.
Given their ineptitude, I feel like I should communicate through an attorney who can throw a shot over their bow, report to a higher level of management, submit a cease and desist letter, or report to the better business bureau, etc.
Or, possibly, I'm being a bit harsh over a human/administrative error.
Thoughts and advice would be appreciated...

Visit the apt office in the morning. Seems like you're overthinking it.

When my wife and I were engaged we renewed our rental agreement and on the first month we were supposed to have 200 off so we paid 200 less and low and behold we recieved an eviction notice for underpaying the rent. I informed them of the error and it was fixed.
The next month I dropped off our full payment and a few days after the 1st we received another eviction notice this time for non payment. My then future wife works for the bank so we showed them where they had cashed the check. Needless to say I ripped them a new one right in front of some customers and made them sign a letter stating each and every mistake they had made along with the fact that from that point forward they had to give me a receipt when I played rent.

Everything worked out in the end because we married shortly after and found a house and the apartment people were more than happy to let us break our lease with no fees just to get rid of me. If you have them by the short hairs then give em a good yank so they don't bother you again
