    Water Well Question

The points on my pressure switch keep sticking. A quick tap on the box will kick it on but they just end up sticking again. 3 times since yesterday afternoon.

I had this problem right after we bought the place and replaced the switch which solved the problem for a couple of months only to have it start up again yesterday. I don't mind replacing the switch again but there has to be something that is causing it.

    See if that helps.

Those contacts build up carbon. Try deenergizing the circuit and filing down the contacts on that switch.

No bladder, just a galvanized tank. Installed new June of this year.

I know more than one oilfield electrician that robs his wife's Emory board stash so they'll have just the right tool to fix sticking contacts.

Must have a pressure tank. No pressure tank they turn off and on way to much. Burns the contacts out within a month are so. Also emory cloth to the points.

Think this was the problem, tank was water logged. Drained the tank, pumped some air in and cleaned the points with emory board and so far so good.
