Well, change what your doing with the bow first, before you quit and start gun hunting.

Why do you bow hunt?

Same as my son(79F250) said it was first out of necessity. I hardly hunted anymore and was content to just go with my son on youth hunts and the rare draw hunt. As we did more and more youth hunts got to treasure the time with my son. When he turned 17 it was like “crap what do we do now”. That is when I discovered TBH and the public hunting forum while doing a google search. Realized we needed to get a bow for best access to public. So glad we did. Never knew how much more I would enjoy the hunt over the old boom stick. Public land can be so frustrating but when you do finally connect it feels like such a great accomplishment regardless of the size of the deer. I’m not opposed to using a gun occasionally if I get a draw or an invite but nothing compares to the challenge of hunting with my bow.

Probably because it's the only method of hunting I've really ever known. My dad didnt hunt...but loved to bowfish, so at an age that most kids were being taught how to shoot a .22, I was sticking carp, gar, and stingray with a little 40# Ben Pearson. As I got older I moved to big game, but didnt start gun hunting till I was in my 30s. Dont enjoy it as much as the bow, but the traditional blackpowders are a nice middle ground.

Because the adrenaline level is probably 5x as compared to other forms of hunting! The exuberance of making (or on occasion not making) a successful shot is probably 10x of other methods of hunting.
Even watching the arc of an arrow is majestic as it sizzles it's way to a target or quarry. Lastly, the intimacy of being part of nature.....not just being in nature![emoji457][emoji1018][emoji289]

What everyone above has stated. The challenge of gettin closer to the game and the adrenaline rush. Nothin like it. Takes more patience and work but the reward is great. Extends the season and gets me in the woods more. More time to relax and get away from the rat race and spend more time with family and good friends

I like hearing animals walk, eat, and communicate. You notice so much more when you're up close and personal. I didnt experunce this much gun hunting. Im also with most of the other folks on preferring the challenge of the bow hunting. I put down the rifle about 8 years ago. I have no regrets. One day traditional hunting would be cool, but I will need more dedication and time to practice to be any good at that. I believe bowhunting is not for everyone. It requires a level of patience that for me had been worth it, but to each their own.

I enjoy the challenge and satisfaction that comes with saying I killed that with a bow. I too have lost one doe from a high shot and shot over a cull buck this year. I got a new bow to me this year with a 28.5 draw and I use a 30" draw so I went back to the drawing board this past week. I put 30" modules on and made up a dozen Goldtip arrows that I prefer over the Bemans that came with the bow. I'm sighting it in now and think I am lights out now. I had to give my arm a couple of days rest and should have it finished this evening ready for hunting Friday morning. Both of my missis were at 30 yards also so I'm going to change that up to so I will have 20 and under shots.
