The wife and I, along with our 18 year old daughter will be taking the camper north this summer. We will be leaving in late May, and heading towards Yellowstone. We will stop the first day somewhere around Trinidad, and the second day a little west of Salt Lake. We will then make our way to the Grand Tetons. We are planning on staying there 2-3 days. My first question is will that be long enough at the Tetons, and what do we not what to miss there. We will then make our way to Yellowstone. We plan on a 5 day stay there. I know its a huge place and we wont be able to see it all, but again, what are them must sees, and the must do thing while there. We are thinking about heading back through South Dakota and checking out mount Rushmore. We will probably head back thru Nebraska and Kansas since the wife is usually ready to make a quick trip out of the way home. Any advise or tips from anyone who has made this trip would be greatly appreciated.

Black hills is an awesome area. You have to check out Devil's Tower, Mt Rushmore, and the Badlands. All really cool areas. There is a mammoth dig site on the south side of the blackhills that is also worth checking out. If you make it over by Thermopolis WY there are some hot springs and a dinosaur museum that is worth a look.

Just seeing this so hopefully I can add some solid advice for the Yellowstone/Tetons part. We did a very similar trip this past summer, but we stayed in a campground directly in between the Tetons and Yellowstone. It was something like 2 miles to Yellowstone, and 4 miles to the Tetons. I’d HIGHLY recommend staying. The campground itself is nothing special, but it’s quiet, convenient, and has a pretty good bar/restaurant just at the entrance.
We weren’t sure which park we’d rather spend more time in, so we just woke up each day and chose which one to go to. Also, be sure and buy a Annual National Park Pass for $85. That’ll save you tons. It paid for itself in the first 3 days of our trip. We hit Arches National Park and Canyon Lands NP in the same day, then Glacier NP for 4 days, up to Canada for a week, then back down to Yellowstone and the Tetons for 4 more days. Every day in a NP was $30-35 without that pass. Since it seems you’ll be taking a similar route up through SLC, you’ll be going through Moab. You’ll want to stop and see Arches and Canyonlands on the way. Absolutely stunning. I do love Moab, but I wouldn’t spend much time there in the summer. It was 116* when we arrived, and only made mid 90s at night. Moab Brewing is a dang good stop for dinner or lunch though.
Oh and if time allows absolutely hit Glacier NP. That was by far my favorite destination of the trip.

Lots of great places in Wyoming to see besides the parks. I would recc. stopping by Saratoga , Wyoming. Small western town with big money. Free hot spring soaking pool also.
May will have snow, be prepared. Winter is shaping up as a good one, may have a ton of snow in May up there.
Cody, Wy is a must see- the museum. Devil's Tower is very neat to walk around.
You should do some dispersed camping in the forest for a hunting feel . It is free to pull off and camp along a road.
Check out the fish hatchery at Daniel.
Drive over the Snowy range if possible, beautiful drive and will have lots of snow in May at the summit.
