Pros and cons: 6.8SPC or 6.5 Grendel???

    Which and why?
6.5 has better ballistics, but as a non-reloader, would you choose 6.8?
Both will do the job but I'm torn as to which. Help me make my decision.

    Signed,
    which round will last...

I have the grendel and love it.

Less than 200yds you will not see any real diff. 200-300 Grendel slightly better. 300+ grendel shines.

6.8 is a fine round but there are several issues.

    1. There are 3 different SAAMI specs as they are trying to deal with the over pressure issues.

    2. Quoted data you have seen published is with combat loads that are high pressure.

When you look at the remington factory loads and compare them to the AA factory loads the Grendel the Velocity is about the same.

If you do not reload I would go with the 6.8.

If you do you will get better accuracy and bullet selection with the 6.5.

reloading might be the way to go anyway. Is 6.5 brass readily available?

It is now. There are times that it can get tough to find.

My hunting load is 120gr Barnes TTSX over BCL2. MV about 2600fps

The AA brass is made by Lapua and is VERY high quality. Even shooting out of AR's 10-12 reloadings is the norm.

One guy kept reloading 10 pieces to see when it would fail and 1 neck split at 15 rounds. The low pressure helps with that.

Accuracy of the round comes from the strict QC that AA has on anyone that is allowed to build under the Grendel name.

Maybe I ought to check out the 6.5 a little further...

If you ever head south let me know you can shoot mine, or if I head north.

I did accidently bump fire a 3-round burst (easy with a 2lb trigger) and put all 3 in 1" at 100yds.

I think the 6.5 maybe a little better round but I'm just guessing since Remington is making a bolt 6.8, ruger is making a mini 6.8 that the 6.8 is going to catch on a little better and it uses the same bullit .270 caliber pretty availbe

I love my 6.8 but I want to get a 6.5 any way.SSA ammo makes the best ammo for the 6.8.

Those are the Military loads that are giving some of the older SAAMI spec guns some bolt problems.
