That's the problem, I can't afford to turn it down. But my job as Dad and Husband come before money. I've been called to do more in my church and it feels good to be in that place in my life. Do I put that off longer and make money now or what? I feel like this "opportunity" is almost a test of faith.

It’s going to be hard for someone that doesn’t darken the doors of a church to understand what you are trying to do.

What if you assumed it to not be a test of faith, and instead it’s a test of if you are willing to suck it up and do what’s best for your family?

My family comes first.

Period.

And yes, I understand people’s opinions on this will differ....

I am a coach, and work a part-time job during the school year and summer. I have to come in early and sometimes work even later......But, it doesn't have to take away from family time.

I don't remember ever hearing anyone towards their last days say they wish they'd work more. I've heard several talk about wishing they'd had more time for their family or helping others.

That being said, it doesn't sound like this is something you'd be doing for several years or it could pan out and you make it your full time gig. For a period of my life, I was working such long hours I literally only had time to come home and sleep. Sometimes I just slept at the plant. Really had me torn down until a friend reminded me that it was just a season of my life and the seasons change. That 6 or 8 months really helped us pay off some debt and when it was over, I had a lot more freedom and stress free for my family without owing people.

Pray and listen if you really hadn't decided. If you've already made up your mind, make your choice and quit yapping about it.

Tonight my pastor wants me to come help build something at the church. It's going to cost me $200 to go do that. I still want to help the church more than sit at home and make that $200. Hard to serve two masters.

I meet people who just got back from playing golf, and those that are in a hurry to get to their greeter job at Walmart.

It isn’t pretty.

I’ll sacrifice more now to make sure my kid gets to go to college, to build my retirement, and to not have to eat Alpo later.

Oh, I know. Just figured if you're anything like me, sometimes you just need someone to tell ya to get on with things. You seek God first, he'll use and bless you whether it's in a church or at work.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing with ya. There's 2 sides to every coin. Like I mentioned in my earlier post, I spent the better part of a year with hardly ever seeing my kids awake. Looking back now, it was the right thing for me to do at the time. No way I'd want to have kept doing that. I'm definitely not well off or anything but it did help me get to a point that we're not just barely getting by and now it's easier for me to pass on things so I can focus on my family.
