    Bats in the attic?

I wanted to replace the screen for my gable vents. As I was tearing out the old screen I came across a colony of bats that didn’t like me tearing their home up. After a few landed on me I bailed out and now they are flying around my attic.
Any ideas how to get them out?

Use netting outside the vent. Attach it at the top and just a few inches down the side to create a valve. The bats will crawl out to go feed and won't be able to get back in through the netting. Cool critters!

You could buy a "bat house" and put it on the outside of your house so they might move into it once they are out of the attic. They will tear up your insect and mosquito population in a good way

Not to raise undue concern but when they "landed on you" was it on bare skin or on your shirt or other clothing? Bats are known for carrying rabies and they have extremely sharp teeth. So sharp that often people are cut and never know it.

The CDC recommends that you get the rabies shot unless you can be ABSOLUTELY certain that there was no bite, scratch or mucus membrane exposure.

Or..... you could always try eating them.

That’s a really good idea. Going to look for something like that I can hang on the outside. Thanks.

Yeah I knew there were some around in an old oak tree by my house, but don’t like them in the attic now. If I can’t get them out with the net idea I may try something like that.

I was wearing a jacket and gloves since I was dealing with the sharp screen. Pretty sure I didn’t get cut. Thanks though

Wait for them to fly out at night, then cover where they come out with netting. Should keep them out unless they have another way in.
