    Dendroligy Question

What kind of Oak is this? It's the only on at my place. Leaf on rt is sample of most of the Oaks I have. Leaves look too big for White Oak, Over hulls.

I believe that is a Blackjack oak, but would have to pull out my old Dendrology book to be sure.

The one you are holding looks like a post oak. Not sure about the other but it's not a blackjack. Blackjack leaves only have 3 lobes

Yes, the one in your hand is a post oak. The other, larger leaf is off of an over cup oak. Just checked my old textbook.

Thanks! The big one also has little spine like things on the leaf edges.

This is what the acorns from an overcup may look like, hence the name.

Tree is over 9 yrs old. Never has had acorns. But I do know what an over hull looks like, wish it had some Thanks all.
