Help Needed to Sight In a Scope

Hello brothers. I am trying to get my 7mm-08 TC Pro Hunter pistol that has a Burris 2x-7x handgun scope with Posi-Lock sighted in. First of all, I am a bowhunter who is trying to stretch out my kill by using a pistol sometimes so not a smart gun guy at all. So how do I get this thing sighted in and what the heck do I use the Posi-Lock for. I bought this rig used so no I don't have a manual.

    Thank You for any help

Should be a nice gun. I am pretty sure the posi lock, is to lock the scope adjustment, after you have sighted it in. I wound not mind helping you get it sighted in and help shooting it, if I had time. I would start, buy bore sighting it at 25 yards, which is very easy with those guns. Remove the barrel from the frame or just open the action and set the barrel and forearm on a sand bag. Then look through the bore, get it perfectly lined up with the center of a target at 25 yards or so. Then adjust the turrets till the cross hairs are on the center of the target also. Make sure you do not move the gun, once you have the barrel lined up with the center of the target.
That will get you pretty close. Then load a round, aim and squeeze the trigger. Start at 25 yards also. Get the gun where it is hitting the bull of the target consistently, then move to farther targets, 50 yard, then 100 yards. With the right ammo, you should be able to get at least 1/2" groups at 100 yards from that gun, probably more like 1/4" groups at 100 yards. I know my 30-30 Contenders consistently shot 3/8" groups, the 30-30 is not known for great accuracy, I would bet a 7mm-08 should produce greater accuracy.
From factory ammo, you likely will only get 3/4" to 1" groups at 100 yards, but I would bet with the right factory ammo, you could get some 1/2" groups.
That Burris scope is a very good scope. The combo you have should be good for well past 300 yards, probably more like 400 yards, but it really takes time to be able to shoot good enough to shoot accurately at those ranges.
I am in the Seguin area, the only range I know of is in New Braunfels. I know there used to be a range outside of Seguin back in the early 90s, but I don't have any idea where it was or if it's still open. I need check to see if there are any ranges locally, I have a few rifles, I want to shoot in the near future.
