My first duck hunt with my son

I have always been a big game hunter and have used exclusively archery for the last 8 years. Well, I won a duck hunt at a charity auction, so I took my 11 yr old son. Wow! I can see why folks get hooked on wingshooting! What a blast. By morning's end we had 8 birds down. I don't know if I got any, maybe one. My son swears he got three, and reminds me quite often how he "outhunted me". My son said it was his favorite hunt ever. The fellowship was great, the hunt was great. The food was great. I rate an 11 on a scale of 1-10. Thanks to our host, Larry, with Kernel game calls, for a wonderful time! Only problem is, now my son wants a new shotgun and a duck lease!

I've been duck hunting with my son for 9 seasons, and now he's 23, in college, and takes me to his mallard holes when I visit him in school, and we duck hunt locally when he was home for Christmas. Special time together, and you'll share waterfowling all your lives. And remember, what's said in a duck blind, stays in the duck blind!

Nice job. That is exactly how my dad introduced me to hunting. Shooting a few teal and spoonies can start a healthy addiction for life. It leaves a few open minutes for meaningful conversations as well.

That's awesome! I remember the first time I "out hunted" my dad. It's still a pretty rare feat!
