I don't think it is what you think it is. Limestone was typically not used as metates because it is soft... who likes gritty chaulky food? That "grinding stone" was probably a nodule eroding out of the limestone.

They've been found all around here, if they were gonna live here they were using limestone, that's all your gonna find for miles and miles and a few more miles after that.
