Converting a shoulder mount to a Euro

My dad shot and shoulder mounted a really nice elk years ago at our family’s place. Unfortunately the mount has not been taken care of well. The hide has been bleached by the sun and the eyes and mouth are coming apart. The thing has also sat in a room with a leaky roof for a decade or two.

Instead of restoring the shoulder mount, is it possible to take the existing horns and mount it to another elk’s skull for a Euro Mount? My extended family is willing to let me hang a Euro, but not a shoulder mount. Plus a huge euro will look pretty awesome over the fire place. Is it possible?

Yes I don't see where that would be a problem at all, but I'm no expert.

    God Bless

Why not do a nice antler mount?

It is possible. We did for my dads elk last year.

This would be your best bet. Unless you mount it on an artificial skull

Plaster and a little work. Going to be hard to find a elk skull

Those plastic skulls used to mounty the antlers to are pretty nice, taxi buddy told me they spray them with a matte white paint and sprinkle with baby powder to give them a bone look/feel

What do you mean your extended family is willing to let you hang a euro?
