    Welders

I'm looking to buy a welder (up to 125 AMP Flux-core cycle: 20% at 90 Amps) no shielding Gas required.

I'm buying it for seldom work around the house and wanting to build some tree stands and a platform for a box blind.
My question: Is this welder strong enough to weld for my mentioned needs (up to 2x2 square metal pipes for the platform)?

I've never welded but I somewhat know what to do from watching and helping my brother weld a long time ago.

I have a Hobart Handler 140 and it can weld up to 1/4" steel (with multiple passes).

        Nice!
I wonder if a 125 AMP Flux Core can handle 1/4"!!!?

another hobart 140 owner. Already did the blind build and currently converting an old trailer to haul kayaks. Im still running flux core wire. For what it is I can manage a decent looking weld. Then again Im not trying to win any prizes, just wanna build stuff with my own 2 hands

I'm looking at the Harbour Freight Flux Core125 which is an upgrade to the Flux Core 90 and has some pretty good reviews.
I'm not sure how this unit compares to the Hobard Handler 140.

I managed to get tractor supply to match a northern tool sale price. Then I threw a 10% off coupon at em

I've watched a ton of youtube videos on this machine (Harbour Freight Chicago Tool Flux 125) and nothing too bad and nothing great has been said, one dude even welded a 1/2" sheet metal with it.... seems to be a good unit for a beginner.

Here is the chart from inside a Hobart 140. There are setting listed for 1/4" for the Flux core.

It can. It won’t like it, but it’ll do it. Take it slow, and multiple passes. I’ve done it a few times with good results. I use my 220V Hobart when conditions allow though.

I’ve also got a Hobart 140 with 100’s of hours on it. I’ve built several bow and rifle stands and towers along with feeders. For most stands I’ve built I use 16ga 11/2” square tubing and that harbor freight welder should work just fine for something along these lines.

I should clarify both my mug welders are Hobart. One is the 140, and the other is a smaller 220v. I believe the 190.
