His best years were 6&7. He usually dropped his sheds in the woodpile. Best was 157 if I got the spread right. He was a spike at 1.5.

Slip him some viagra during the rut this year and he'll be both thankful and gone for a month or so.

So how did he get the name Tuffy ?
If you look at his left ear it has a tuft of hair you can see from behind. He was born that way. He had a twin brother that had the same defect. I gunned his mother down when he was 1.5. I’d always sling some corn whenever I saw him and his brother.

Eventually I lost track of the brother and don’t know of his fate. At 3.5 he would follow me and eventually showed up at camp. He’d stay around until the spring and then move back about a mile to the area he was born.

I’d find him in his home area around September. In a week or so he would show at camp and hang around until the spring.

This year he never left. Sleeping in the tractor shed. He likes his shade and protection from the elements.

E-collar might help keep him out of the shed pile

That’s the best story I’ve read on the GS in years. Thanks for sharing the story and the pics.

Do you have pics of him from the past? I love stories like this where you can watch the growth and decline of a buck living out his life.

I'd throw in $10 to a Tuffy fund. We've got a 6y/o doe named Meep, we bottled raise her as a fawn. She's around most mornings, loves niller wafers and even serves as my live decoy from time to time.

That's a cool story to have such a history with a deer and for him to live out his final days at camp.

I agree with others, get him a mineral lick and perhaps some cotton seed. May coax another year or two out of him.

That's too neat, M16 enjoy the old boy, he won't be around forever and very soon you'll walk out in the mornings and wish he was there
