Fridge Help!! External or Internal Ice Maker?

My wife and I are trying to decide on our appliances for our house build. We are looking at Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool. Is it better to get a model with internal or external ice-maker/water tap?

We chose French door with icemaker in the door. Did not want to take up room in the fridge compartment.

My LG has both & was a big selling point. I use the internal to move bags of ice into the deep freeze this time of year to avoid the hassle of stopping for ice. Love it & would suggest finding one that does the same regardless of mfg.
