Need Suggestions for a Camera Holder out of a shell blind.

I hunt out of a shell blind at ground level. I typically use a trophy tool (http://www.trophytools.com/ ) to mount my camera to and use that to clamp on to the frame of the window etc. The problem is that with the trophy tool, I am up near the window and at ground level the deer see movement when I need to turn my camera on/off or adjust etc. SO I was thinking about creating a stand for my camera. I need something that is easy to create, something I can leave in each blind and don't have to take back and forth with me every hunt. I keep going to a PVC pipe cut about 4' tall and put in a coffee can filled with concrete? I can then clamp to it, move it around inside the blind without the deer seeing me. Seeing that I have 15 or so shell blinds, this seems to be the most economical but it will take some time to get it done. I could purchase camera tripods but that is expensive.

There has to be someone with some good ideas they have done so far???

I'm an always carry my manfrotto tripod to the blind with me kind of guy, really haven't put much though into it. If it were me I guess I would probably look for a good deal on some tripods, you might be able to build something like your talking about but I don't believe it will be as stable as a tripod.

Hear ya. I am trying to come up with something so I don't have to carry it with me all the time. My pack has way too much stuff in it already!!

How about a tripod? You can just leave it in the blind...

I made a simple camera arm out of some square tubing, let me see if I can find pictures of it mounted inside my Krivoman blind.

My issue is I have 15 blinds and am trying to not spend the $$$ on a tripod that I leave in each.

So you want to build 15 of whatever it is? You can buy a tripod for decently cheap...

You are right. I just checked amazon and sorted by price. Some as low as $10 Prime? I had checked previously and cheapest was $29. I apparently didn’t dig enough. That would be easiest route so far.

You get what you pay for with tripods. If it doesn't have a fluid head, it'll be jumpy when you pan/ tilt, particularly on the "y" axis. Magnus VT-100 is a light weight tripod with fluid head for $49.

I bought a few cheap tripods to leave in blinds. They suck. I carry my good tripod every trip now. If you do buy the cheap tripods, try one before buying 15. If you use a good tripod once, the cheap and homemade will never be good enough. What's the point in filming if it's not smooth video.

I bought three Velbon DF-60 tripods from Amazon in 2006 for $43.99 each. They're still in use. I'm sure that model has been replaced with something else, but there are probably still similar tripods at similar prices. They tilt and pan smoothly as long as you clean them occasionally and keep the pan tension light.

For a small video camera like mine, all you need is a tripod that will level up, has a center column that will crank up and down and has panning and single directional tilt movement. My tripods are a slightly beefier version of this... https://smile.amazon.com/AmazonBasic...dp/B005KP473Q/

If you're videoing with a DSLR, you might need something more.

I use a tripod mainly, but in one blind where I have a shelf up high I bolted a camera arm thats for strapping to a tree and that works perfect.

Good stuff!!! Thanks for the input. My videos are simply of the shot, no real panning, definitely no creativity!!! I just like to have the video of the moments before and the shot so that I can review to make sure what "I saw" was what happened before I get out of the blind.
