    hog lights question

    Fellas,

Built some solar lights to hunt hogs with at night. With the green lense on, it really takes away how bright the light is. These lights will be on a porch feeder, so would pigs adjust to normal lights or is the green lenses needed? Feeder is 80 yards away from porch, my fear is not being able to see whats under it.

    Thanks,

    Casey

I have just the normal white lights I just use the landscaping lights and tape them to the legs works fine.

I have a Sniper Hog Light on my porch feeder- three years trouble free....
      Highly recommended!
      He is a sponsor here.
The remote control is the cats meow..you can increase the light slowly until you can see your cross hairs.....and then BOOM!....in the face!

These lights will have the assistants of a motion activated harbor freight security light that is green to so will be brighter when pigs come in

IMO some hogs will not get used to Green or White lights. I personally have 18 feeders lights on 18 feeders and when I first put up the feeder lights, I had 12 Red, 3 white and 3 green. The feeders had all been running over a year when I put the feeder lights up, all 12 of the Red ones had the same hog activity, all of the white and green had less activity at them then normal. After a couple of months, I switched the green and white to red and within 2 weeks the hog activity was back to normal. This is why I always recommend Red light for any type of night hunting. You will still get pigs to come in to Green and white but probably not as many if the light is red and there will probably be some area's that you will get just as many pigs with green or white as Red but overall Red is better. The other thing that makes a difference is how far the light is from the feeder, the further away it is the better. Animals don't like getting right next to the source of the light so the further that source is the better. This doesn't mean no animal will go right under or right next to the light but some wont. This is why I designed our feeder light to mount up to 200 yards away and still light up your entire baited area enough to shoot with a scope. Of course you don't need to mount it that far away but I do recommend they be at least 20 yards from the feeder/bait.

All I use are the white landscape lights and no problems although it does take them a week maybe to get used to the lights. One thing I have found out---motion sensor lights do not work on my pigs When the light comes on, they scatter like a covey rise.
