    Grass/weed ID

    Can anyone identify this grass/weed?
Over the weekend I watched several bucks walk by the corn and graze on it instead. It is everywhere after the rains.

It is the most important deer browse in most of the hill country. It's called fillaree or if you're a wild flower person, stork's bill. It will grow low to the ground all winter and in the spring, pushes up to about a foot tall and has purple flowers on it. It's about 14 to 17% protein so very important as a deer food in the winter.

Thanks for the input. It is obvious that the deer love it. I have watched them walk by the corn and eat continuously hardly lifting their heads.
