It was my first time to go out for a 3 day hunt. The weather was great but it was still to wet to get to the southside of the place. The hot water heater was leaking in the trailer house when I got there. Had to look at that first.
I sat in a different spot each time to just see what shows up. We dont do cameras so its a suprise.
Sit #1 at the 80 acres I saw 5 bucks, 4 were 1-2 and a 140-11. I forgot to take pictures. No mesquitoes!
Sit #2 at the house feeder went off way before dark of course since we havent been out in a month. By moon light I could see with my swaros a 4 point, 3 on oneside with no brow and a 12 inch bladed dagger on the other. 5-6 yr old that a kid will take out. I fixed the time and went in.
We decided to go fill feeders and check times. We got to the buddy blind and the tarp on the blind was ripped. So i decided to rip it all off and recover it with 4x8 coroplast sheets from past elections. Went back to camp and got supplies, went back and skinned the blind, filled the feeder. I looked at the blind and did not read it. I noticed it was pink and just took a picture of it. We filled up 8 other feeders and ate lunch, watched football and took a nap. You can read what the blind says 😆
Sit#3 in the northwest corner. I got in and the groung was muddddy! There were 2 older folding chairs. I sat it one it started sinking and rip and crash my azz was thru the chair on the ground. I finally tipped over and escaped. I gingerly sat in the other and it last 15 mintes befors succoming to my girth! So i had to sit in the mud for 2 hours on this hunt. I had a 3 yr old 8 rubbing at 6 yards for 5 minutes waiting on the feeder to go off. It never did!! 2 other bucks were disappointed at the feeder too.
Sit#4..AM I went back to the buddy we had fixed the dsy before. I saw 8 bucks, biggest 135-40. I had several deer at 4-5 yards which was cool.
Sit 5..PM I went to the corral which is in our bid wheat field. Off course they havent planted yet because of the rain and army worms now gone. I corned the cone of death in front of the blind. Its 180° fan from 20-35 yards out marked with rocks.It was romper room time there. I had 12 bucks in the cone all 3yrs and unger. 2-10 points that will be good. There were 8 doe and 7 other bucks across the field at 800 yards. Right before dark a tiny doe ran out of the mesquites to my left. She stopped and looked at all the bucks there. She took off on a dead sprint thru all the bucks to my right. I looked to my left and a 140-45 -10 comes sprinting after her. He clears the cone of death like the red sea. He chased her 1100 yards out the south end of the field.
Great hunts for me. Lots of close up encounters and memories. I saw close to 40 bucks and only 8 doe. The big boys will show up in late December when it turns cold. Its green like Spring in the pasture right now. No need for the big boys to show themselves.
