Checked another off the list

Been a good year for bucket list items. High up there was killing an elk which I accomplished back in September. Another item was catching bull reds in the surf. I’ve saltwater fished all my life and have caught plenty of reds, and some over 28” but not by much (29-32”). I’ve always wanted to catch the fall run and target the big 40” plus bulls in the surf, but usually I’m in a deer stand this time of year. This weekend we had the chance to head to Crystal Beach and enjoy the beautiful weather. Of course we took the surf gear and ended up with 5 bull reds with all approaching or breaking the 40” Mark.

Yes they are! We were running baits out about 300 yds so they had plenty of time to wear me out before I got them in.
