    Rut Question

I hunt in North Texas, Hunt County. My bucks are still in bachelor groups. Is the rut on track to be in November, or is it starting earlier due to it being cooler?

It will be at the same time as it is every year. You just might not physically see the action happening

Its going to be pretty warm up until Wednesday next week and then drop into the low 40s. I think that should kick things off a bit.

They are chasing does in Burnet County, central Texas, should be doing the same up north.

Yep it is going to fall into the same date range every year +or- 5 days tops. Some does are going to come in early and some later but the hot time is going to generally be around the same time.

If the bucks are still in bachelor groups then you got time.
I prefer to hunt them while they are still in their summer feeding patterns.
Tough to predict once they split up and start cruising.

The rut is based on the amount of light in the day. That doesn't change from year to year. All this early/late rut talk you see every year is just people's perceptions from the limited number of deer they see at limited times. Plus that depends on what their definition of "the rut" is It'll always start within the same few days each year.

I’m still seeing bachelor groups in northeast Texas.

Hunted DCNF in Houston County M-W this week. Didn't see much movement except saw one buck chasing three doe when I was driving to Lufkin. Good luck everyone.
