I’ve been waiting impatiently all year to start this thread! So here we go!
I dropped Talen off at school this morning and headed out. If you followed my Fathers & Sons live hunt, you’ll know it was hard for him to get out of the truck because his head is so big from the week he had. I left LUFKIN @ 8:00 North bound to South East Kansas.
This is my 6th year to hunt in the land of giants and I get more excited every year.
I should arrive at our property around 4:00 and will be in the stand shortly after. My buddy Clark will be here tomorrow mid day and we’ll be hard at it till the weekend. We had both planned on hunting public land this year but Clark scored us 850+ acres to lease in July and our whole plan changed, for the better! We drove up, met the land owner, scouted, put Covert Cell cameras out and even got to hunt a few days the end of September. Mostly just to see where deer were traveling and touch up our sets. Didn’t take long for the Coverts to let us know we have 3 solid shooters frequenting the property. So we put some dates together and came up with 14 days total that we will put into getting 2 of them on the ground.
My trip started off great this morning as my phone went off @ 8:00 to reveal our biggest target buck eating corn at the stand I’ll be sitting in this evening.
“Big Bob” is a main frame 11 point that has lived on the farm for 3 years as per the farmer. Hopefully he’ll show back up this evening.
If these first 4 days in Kansas are anything like my week in the East Texas river bottom, I’ll have a banner year for sure!
Stay tuned!
I hope to give y’all another eventful live hunt.
