Sunday morning I was fortunate enough to take this axis doe on some family land. I played cat and mouse with these axis all weekend, and yesterday morning this doe finally came in range. I will say that axis are HARD to get in bow range, they seem so know something is up. I was covered up in whitetails all weekend, but the axis were a different story.
She stepped out at 32 yards and jumped the string a bit. I’ll say this wasn’t my cleanest bow kill, and a follow up shot was needed, but that’s bow hunting.
I plain forgot to take a proper LDP, so here’s a truck picture. I was afraid she was pregnant, but nope just a fat one. As you can see the shot was high and spined her, but at least no tracking was needed.
