    What's the best used car?

My Grand daughter is 16 and it's time to get her first car. I want to help with with the purchase. Want to keep it in the $3000 and under range.
Which cars seem to have the least problems?
I know all cars wear out but which ones have the least amount of expensive issues?

Used Honda Accords have a good reputation.

Odds are a $3000 car will probably have problems. Maybe triple that amount and get a honda or a toyota.

I bought a Honda Accord with 175k on it and drove it to 325k before I gave it to my BIL that got it into the 4’s before doing any repair..

I used my moms old Accord to go back and forth to school trying to keep miles and the diesel bill down on my truck. Had to fix the transmission around 230k but everything else was still going strong when it was sold.

I bought my daughter a Toyota Corolla. It’s a 2007 & had 82k miles at the time we got it. We’ve had it 16 months & no issues so far. I paid $6k for it which was a good price for its condition & year model and mileage at the time.

If you’re patient you should easily be able to find a accord or corrola for that price range. Might need a little bit of maintence as any used car may need. Just be sure you get it from a private owner that’s owned it for awhile and see what kind of maintence they’ve done to it.

I’m looking for a commuter car for myself right now with a 5K budget. From what I’ve found Honda’s are a little bit more than Toyota’s with the same mileage. You can find them for 5 all day long, I bet if you’re patient you can find what you’re looking for. I think I’m going to end up with a 2008 or newer Accord because they’re a little roomier and i can find one with leather, it’s hard to find Camrys with leather.

This sounds like a good plan, thanks!

I have a buddy that bought a beat up honda with >350k miles on it for 250 bucks. He has put nearly 60k on it in the past couple of years and he still uses it to get to and from work.
