    deer lease

anyone know of any west texas leases available for 2009-2010. please let me know...appreciate it guys....

Got one question...theres a lease available 12 miles north of best. 9 miles west of big lake.. 2500 acres mld program, a small house available, 5.00 an acre. the only prob is the owner goes out there the last weekend in october and the 2nd weekend in january to quail hunt. the rest of the time its me and 5 or 6 other guys to our self. all friends or family.. no livestock at all..which is a huge plus... what do yall think....worth trying, worth the money... let me know what you guys think.... if any of you hunted around that area hows the genetics/bucks... usually we dont spend that kind of money on a lease but were willing to this year if its worth it... killing trophy whitetails is well worth it to me... just dont know if this place is worth it?????

i think that is a more than fair price for that place. Just make sure that the MLD program means you can hunt into Feb., not just that they have a management program. We got on a MLD property a couple of years ago, but the leasor didnt bother to mention that even though it was MLD and you could legally hunt the property until Feb., we only had hunting rights through the end of "general deer season" per the TPWD. He used the rest of Jan. and Feb. to day hunt the same place we hunted all year. As you can imagine, that didnt sit well with us and we left. But, that lease sounds like a great opportunity for you. Good luck!

I have hunted between Big Lake and Barnhart on the Elkins Ranch 15-20 years ago; the area used to have some big deer. 2500 acres does not go far in that country. Price seems very reasonable.
