    Bow holders for home

I have about 14 bows that i want to hang from the ceiling in one of my archery/hunting rooms.... I have a few ideas from some I have seen at archery shops around and some metal ones you can buy...

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

          Bow Hooks

Jered. I have been using hooks like these for several years. I have used the cheap vinyl coated (.99 each) but I have re-placed them with the ones in the pics below. These are a little heavier, have a better rubber coating, and they are still only about $3.00 each at Home Depot. You can put two bows on each one if you need to.

I leave my bow in the case when not in use, is it bad to do this?
            Should it be hung?
If so should it hang by the wheel or limb?

Thanks Mike, I will stop and get me a few of them. Maybe screw them into a 2x4 and screw it to the ceiling....

***, it is ok to leave your bow in its case, as long as it is stored in a cool place.... I have a bow rack with 8 or so bows on it and have 5 bow cases on the floor with other bows in them... i am really just trying to get all the bows off the floor. the bow rack takes up a good chunk of floor space...

Whats the difference between having your bow on the floor or hanging?

                  I just built this one for 5 bows. 2x4back with a 2x8 top. a 2x8 is actual 7 1/4".
the 2x4 is support (L shaped) for the 2x8 then put a 2x2 down leg on each side and cut out an area for a 1x4 to add support were the string suppressors hit.
added the 1/8" oak panel after thought to look better.

36" wide by 42"high. so i would think 6 foot of wall space for 10

the hooks need to be 5-5 1/2 inches from the wall (backboard) for the bows to hang straight and be easy to get on and off the hooks. Hooks are at HomeDepot.

if you like it, i will take it down and get you some pictures of the back for a better view.

Yeah Jered. The ones pictured are threaded into the 2x ceiling joists. In one of the pics you can see where I missed on the first try and had to patch the hole.

If you needed to locate your hangers closers together (than the joist spacing) you could run a 2x4 like you metioned and then screw the hanger into the 2x.

Most Home Depots have the hangers like the ones pictured.

Those are the same brand of hook from the Depot that I used except yours are the J-Hook. I use the L-Hook which allows you to hang two bows on each hook if needed.

D1rich1... you cant step on a bow that is hanging from the ceiling..

Mike, yes I would want the hooks closer to allow for more bows in a small space....

Wassaw.. That is a great idea but I would like my bow to free float on the hooks. with your hooks so close to the wall, some other part of the bow is touching the wall....

your right, the string suppressor area holds against the wall, i took some whisker biscuit felt and place in those spots. didn't want string rub either.

Do you still have Blaine's bow?

I need to get that at some point.

                              thanks
