It is especially fun if you start this before bow season and practice your spot n stalk technique on 'em... I've done this and it seems to work for me. I build my pen then on the outside I'll spread rocks and broken brick. They don't like it they can't get stable footing. It takes quite a bit of rock for it to work but it does for me. They get bored quick and move on. Now granted I hunt in a place that has plenty of different size rock to pick up. It is time consuming but been on this place for years and it was worth it.

good luck, got cows on the place I hunt. Its a free/help work place so we deal with them. They tear down fences, push over cattle panels, push through hot wire fences, etc. Most destructive cows ive ever been around, they like to sleep under the feeders. Usually just use a sling shot at the bow stand and run em off the feeders at the rifle stands. Once they find the feeders they will not leave them alone no matter whats in the way. The deer seem to not mind them much but this isnt no big deer place either.

I have ran cows on places where some clown decided to string along a single strand of barbwire through some trees to make a crude feed pen. Let me tell you that is freaking dangerous when you are busting through the brush on a horse trying to catch a cow! This was something that was left by previous leasers that we found after we picked up the lease. We had leased both hunting & grazing.
If you are going to run barbwire, run several strands, and use some well marked T-posts. The deer wont care as they are used to fences, and it's gonna take more than one strand to keep cows out.

I’m thinking about stringing some barb wire about a 3-4 acre area around the set ups about waist high and use mesquite trees as the t-post. Has anyone tried that and would it work?
