The last good buck I killed was further than I normally shoot, 35+ if I remember right. Late season, in a field.
I hunt in the woods 90% of the time and I try to keep my shots <30. I range a ring around my tree when I get set down and reference that ring for any shot opportunity.
More often than not, I’m out of range, but that’s bowhunting & what makes it fun. Being good (&lucky) enough to choose the right tree on the right day, then being able to get a clean shot off is exhilarating.
