I bought a utility knife with the quick change blade on it.
I was cutting out the backstraps, when it quit cutting. I looked and the blade was missing.
I looked for the blade before continuing. I didn't want to cut myself.
I found it in the fat an meat by the tail.
Upon closer inspection i found that some fat had gotten into the blade release mechanism and the blade wouldn't stay locked. The blade retract mechanism worked.
My next utility knife won't have the blade quick change on it

This is why I've been hesitant to use the utility knife
What is your main knife you use to quarter hogs and get the backstraps?

It was my edc and I forgot I had it on me as I had to take a immediate trip to LA.
It makes it through TSA out there just fine.
Get out there and realize it slipped through and asked my Fed Agent buddy about it and he said there was legislation in place for us to carry small blades onboard so I should be good on the way back too.
LAX must have missed that memo as I was confronted by 4 officers and a K9 explaining that my knife wasn't allowed and I'd have to give it up (or of course I could have missed my flight seeing that this was 45 mins before departure)
