Genesis 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
What does it mean to "know" someone?
Genesis 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
Genesis 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
Genesis 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
Genesis 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
Genesis 19:5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
Genesis 19:8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
The root word in Hebrew indicates intimacy. Abraham accepted a marriage invitation from Yahweh when he left his fathers house which was a condition or marriage.
Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Paul tells us the "Gospel" was first preached to Abraham. The Gospel is an invitation to become the bride of Yahweh. Yahweh and Abraham had an intimate relationship. This was the "Faith" that our father Abraham had. Abraham was chosen because of his obedience to Yahweh's Law.
Genesis 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
This story is a foreshadowing of the Father providing a proper sacrifice for all Israel. The story says that Yahweh would provide himself as a "Lamb". Then Yahweh provides a "Ram" not a "Lamb" which any Hebrew speaking Israelite would know that God had not fulfilled this "Lamb" and would be looking for this future event. Abraham's faith was so strong that he reasoned that Yahweh could resurrect Issac in order to fulfill his promise of inheritance of the land. Yet another type and shadow of Messiah.
Hebrews 11:17-19 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, (18) of whom it was said, "Through Isaac shall your offspring be named." (19) He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.
The place that this event took was called Mt. Moriyah. which means "see Yah" John the Baptist later introduces Jesus as the "Lamb" of God. Most overlook that John 1:1,14 identifies Jesus as the Word of God who was with God and was God in the Beginning.
Genesis 15:1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
Abraham had a relationship with Jesus.
John 8:56-58 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. (57) Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? (58) Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
The words "I am" actually mean the existent one! Jesus was telling the Pharisees exactly who He was and is.
Abraham said that Issac was his only beloved son. Later we see the same words being spoken from Heaven.
Matthew 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
The covenant of pieces that Abraham experienced was Day of Atonement or Judgment Day to see who are the true "sons of Abraham".
Genesis 18:19 "For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him."
Romans 2:13 For the hearers of the law are not righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be declared righteous.
Luke 12:46 "the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
The covenant of pieces is real and Yahweh will return and everyone will sit before the Judgement seat of Christ.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God[Jesus] is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
John 12:48 "He who rejects Me[The Word/Sword], and does not receive My words, has that which judges him; the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.
