Dont know who gave you that info but any lift (does not matter the inch) will void warranty...unless you worked out a deal with the dealership for install, your most likely SOL.

I spoke with multiple at the Toyota dealership, one of who is my brother-in-law and that is what I was told. If you have the dealership put the lift on then they will cover it (it will cost you a lot more).

The only parts that are not covered under my warranty are the ones that were replaced. If you go over 3 inches on the 3rd gen Tacoma then you have to have brake lines extended, the transfer case lowered, and a few other things. If you put 35 in tires on one the transmission has to be re-flashed and the rear end has to be re-geared.
