Every year I spend this week in Colorado chasing bugling elk. With a trip already planned it came at a surprise when I was told I had to be in California for a conflicting mandatory meeting. Committed to making it work: I left my house in St Louis last Saturday and drove to Denver, dropped my truck off at the airport and flew to LAX. From Sunday to Wednesday I was in LA enjoying the beach and great weather. Thursday morning at 4am I hopped on a plane and flew to Denver. Completely exhausted, I drove 3 hours south, grabbed my gear and sat on a water hole. Only having a couple of hours before dark I was doubtful in the evening being productive. To my surprise after 60 minutes a bull elk comes walking in and gives me a 35 yard shot. Long night of dealing with a lot of cutting. Finished my night in Raton and drove home yesterday. Funny now that I think about it - not even a single night in Colorado. What a week! I need a nap...
