    Pellet Smoker Info

I just got introduced to the world of pellet smokers when my wife got me one for my birthday last week. I have a bag full of hickory pellets.

Anybody have any tips/tricks on what to cook, how long, and at what temps? I’m interested in brisket, whole chickens, ribs, and some roasts to start with.

Any help or info would be appreciated.

Smoke at same temp/duration you would with a stick burner. You just don’t have to keep farting with the fire.

Cook by temp, not time. The pellet grill will go all night while you're sleeping. If you're smoking a brisket or pork butt, just throw it on as late as possible the night before. If it's done early, put the meat in a cooler. It can stay there a few hours with no problem.

Best deal for pellets I have found is the B&B bags at HEB.

Buy a decent WiFi or blue tooth thermometer.

Grab a beer, sit back and do nothing! That's the best part.

I have one they are great. I have found my times are a little off on the pellet vs wood or it seems that way at least there is a small learning cure but not bad you will love it they are super simple only negative I can think of you don’t get the smoke flavor as much but you can still taste it

Make your wife do the cooking. Nothing to it. My wife cooks all the time on ours. It makes bar b queing to Ez. Just don't like the cleanup every time you use it. The only problem I've had is when it's windy it will jack with your temperature.

Brisket about 13# season and set about 225deg cook 3-4 h to about 145deg internal temp...double wrap with alu foil turn up heat to 275 deg another 3 -4 hours to 195 internal temp...REmove and let rest an hour or so to soak up juices ..then slice and enjoy

If you a SOPPER do it every 30 min or so them fst 3-4 hours

Above times/temp are ball park...differs with every pit and cook..

            ENJOY

Bought one about 5 years ago from RecTec (family owned biz) out of Georgia...best piece of cooking equipment i ever bought. Put your Brisket on for as long as you need to get to the right internal temp and walk away....
I bought a Mini for my Toy Hauler that we take everywhere so we can cook ribs and anything else...Smoked Jalapenjo Poppers and Boudin for Hour’s Dourves will make you look like a 5 star chef at any campsite!

Thanks for all the info! The WiFi or Bluetooth thermometer will be my next purchase. I got some hickory pellets from Academy for about $15/bag and did some ribs that turned out decent. I was kinda disappointed in the lack of smoke flavoring. I’m excited to try different meats and experiment with different flavored pellets.
