    Portland Oregon Fishing Guide

Headed up to Portland mid October to visit a longtime friend that recently moved there. Wanting to book a Salmon fishing trip on the Columbia river while were there. Anybody have any guide recommendations or any other must do’s.

I fished with Erik a few years ago with Top Guides NW. We had a great time slaying salmon at Buoy 10.

Here are my tips for Portland:

Beware the women. I've never seen so many hairy legs and pits and a generally flippant attitude in regards to personal hygiene. Hippies.

Don't go there for the beer. I've never been so disappointed in local breweries. Deschutes out of Bend is the only Oregon beer I've found worth drinking but it's good enough to make up for Portland's shortcomings.

Driving in Portland is miserable. They don't trim the trees, like, ever. Inevitably there will a branch in front of the street sign that you need to read so you will miss your turn or exit often.

The farmer's market at the college is pretty neat if you can stand the smell of hippies long enough to enjoy it.

I was born and raised mostly in Oregon. You'll probably be fishing buoy 10. I never cared much for fishing there personally. If you have time, you might want to try the Nestucca River. I used to hammer the salmon on that river and lived a block from it for a few years.

They have Lewis and Clark fort around Astoria which I always enjoyed visiting, but I've always been really into the frontier stuff. See if the dory boats are running on Cape Kiwanda, it's pretty cool to see them launch from the beach and slide up on the beach on their way in. I started my commercial fishing career on one. Crater lake is one of the most beautiful places on earth in my opinion, but it's in southern Oregon. If you do visit that south you might as well hit the redwoods along the southern coast. The pacific highway is beautiful to drive. Just outside of Portland on the east side along the Columbia river you have Multnomah Falls which tourists seem to like. Rooster rock is just a little farther down and my dad used to like to take his boat and bino's and check out the nudist beach they had there lol. Crown Point is right there as well and has a beautiful view I might of utilized a few time with some young ladies lol. Bonniville dam is there and has windows you can watch the salmon run up the fish ladders and there's a hatchery there you can visit. Mount Hood is close to Portland also and has some cool lakes/spots.

It's a great and beautiful state if it wasn't for all the trashy hippies that came from kommiefornia when I was a teenager.

Had a great day fishing the Lewis river with Top guides. Chilly 39 on the River. Had enough of Portland city life ready to get back in a bow blind in Texas.
