    What light?

what is your choice of flashlight beam color or does it matter. I have always used a normal flashlight or my cap w/ built in light. I usually get in the blind about an hour before daylight.

I use a red one just so it doesn't hurt my night vision as much, but I don't think it matters much. Mine is a Browning with a weak red beam, a blue beam, and two different white beams. I never use a light if I can see to walk though. Ever since I ran into that boar hog last year that didn't want to cede the trail I've carried my G20 with a light attatched in my hand. Better than a sharp stick !

I use a red light/lens walking to the stand in the morning. Red isn’t anywhere near as bright as a white light.

I have a 50 lumen white light. It takes 1 AA battery or maybe it's AAA... it fits easily in my pocket. I carry it in my left hand, as I'm right handed. I keep my thumb over most of the lense, allowing just a sliver of light out. If i need more light i just remove my thumb.

When I walk to blind when using white light I too place my thumb or finger over the light to emit a partial beam. When organizing my sitting arrangements in the blind I normally use the small LED light built into my cap. I was just wondering if this might alert critters and would a Red or green light be better? Or does it really matter if I’m in the blind before daybreak?

I use nothing white. Only red or green.

You will be surprised how far white light can travel.

I never use white at all. Have a friend use a white light at night and walk up to you from a distance. Then do it with a red light

I use our 40KAP headlamp. I run white but you can run it with green or red if you want. It can be turned way down with the included variable dimmer switch or super bright for tracking or anything else you need a lot of light for. The reason I use white is because the deer at our place don't care and don't spook from a white light, they will let you walk right by them and never move unless they smell you or you start talking. Can't even begin to tell you how many times I've tried to run deer off the feeder with a white light after dark so I can get out of my stand but they don't care and just keep eating.

I see far more animals when I use my red headlight. With white light they seem to know I am there and look for me. I still use the reflective spray paint and with the red light it looks like an airport runway to the blind, but only I can see it.

I try not to use a light at all! On really dark nights i cup my hand around my flashlight so there is just a sliver of light on the ground. I always do a check in the blind for unwanted critters before I step in.

I try not to use a light. Rather approach my stand as day is cracking light and animals and birds are waking up. My thought process is this. Why sit in a stand producing scent for an hour spooking god knows what as your scent is pooling and if a animal approaches you, you can’t kill it, just educate it. Walking in the dark blundering around has less effect as things spooks animals all the time. Why do that when you can sneak in?

For the record I don’t use feeders with animals waiting for the feeder to go off. Not against it but it don’t work well in Louisiana. I’d rather spook a deer off before getting to the stand, than having the deer alert near my hunting spot. Many deer know your approaching way before you get close and just sneak off.

I’m sure there is all different methods but this stated above is mine.
