    Banded Water Snake?

My wife got a nice surprise when she went to get eggs this morning. We have had fewer and fewer eggs lately, so I warned her there was probably a snake getting them. Well, she found him today. I'm away for work, so a friend of our sent his son over and he got him out and took care of him. They said he was pretty aggressive, my first thought was it was a chicken snake. But after looking at the pictures I think its a banded water snake.

    Thoughts?

Yep. Banded water snake. Water snakes are aggressive. Every water snake I've ever caught either bit me or tried to bite me.

Nice specimen. You know, except for the dead part. But egg eaters gotta go. Once they find that easy meal ticket they won't stop.

I hope so, my wife is worried there is more...told her they don't run in packs!

We'll see, the chickens have been acting funny for a couple weeks she said, and that's about how long we have been getting fewer eggs. He may have been camped out in there living the easy life.
