Nothing wrong with them. Just do them like any duck and soak them in water in the fridge 2 or 3 days and keep draining and refilling. Then cook em up. Not bad at all.

They taste like a shoveler to me. And I like shoveler. Like bonesplitter said "just soak em in water"

Soak'em like said, then put on whatever marinade/seasoning you like. Attach to a wooden plank and cook in oven. Remove and throw away duck (any duck, it don't matter what kind...) and eat the plank. Gotta be better than duck!!
j/k I know some who love duck this, or duck that. I personally have never had any duck that I liked... That's why I don't shoot'em.

I thought the Frivolous Tree Duck or as some call the Mexican Whistlers were protected but I have been out of Duck hunting for about 5 years.

As far as taste, go to Walmart and get some Allegro Game Tame or other Allegro Marinade and soak them for a bit and they will be fine, it works on anything that may be questionable. I would go 12 hours at the most, it is powerful stuff.

On any of the more gamey tasting birds (divers), I have always soaked them overnight in water with a some vinegar in it (buttermilk has a similar effect). Going off of a suggestion I got early this season, I started soaking them in Coca Cola. And I think it tastes as good if not a little better than the water and vinegar.

I am a big believer in the Allegro for gamey meats. Back in the day, we would make jerky out of all our ducks and geese and it was great. Use the game tame for 12 hours and then dry seasonings and then make jerky. It never lasted long.
