Rattlebug hiding locations?

Why are some many rattlebugs killed under feeders or feeder pens?

Waiting on mice or birds to come get a kernel of corn?

Food source. I had a rat snake get in my lease camper when I had mice. I fixed the entry point and put out blocks. No more mice and no more snakes.
