Been following this one for a while. Defense is expertly dragging it out as long as possible for their client, who I think is ultimately going to get convicted of 2nd degree murder.
Curtis Reeves, ex-LEO captain shot a guy in a Florida movie theater over an argument that started when the victim didn’t turn off his cell phone. The guy was apparently texting his daughter during the previews and Reeves got agitated. It escalated and the victim threw popcorn at Reeves who then shot him once in the chest with a 380.
Reeves’ entire defense has been based on Florida’s stand your ground law. His claim was rejected in 2017, and a trial date set for February 2019. However, a change in the stand your ground law may earn him another hearing.
The dude is 72 or 73 and is really just trying to cut the amount of time he spends in prison before he dies there.
