I had horrible experience with Trane and their warranty, or lack their off. And the group that installed it EnviroMax, they were extra awful. Had great experience with Daiken though.

Have a 15 yr old RUUD, just paid a guy $400 to repair, didn't work then at $1700 he replaced the coil. Wasn't the problem, paid another guy $1000 to actually repair the leaking parts on the outside unit. So $3100 in repairs on an old unit, hoping it holds up a few more years. Not sure what brand to use when it's time?

I think I’m gonna upgrade my attic insulation and get radiant barrier installed before I replace my low seer
17 yo American Standard. It runs like a tank and only ask for a refrigerant bump every now and then.
Maybe if I can reduce it’s workload it won’t have to run so often on the 90*+ days.
**edit** nock on wood .....

How much did it cost you to install and what kind of difference are you seeing in electric bills on average?

I took over my dads place after he passed away. The AC unit was a Singer (yes like the sewing machines). It was installed in 1977. It ran just fine (with normal repairs from time to time) until just 2.5-3 years ago. The only reason I couldn’t have it serviced was because the fitting to charge the system had rusted/rotted so bad that it would not open. I knew it was long over due for a new setup. I had a Bryant system installed. I was not at all impressed with the install crew, but the until seems to be doing well. Even in the hottest part of summer, the electric bill is only $125-$135 monthly. This is in a 1977 model house with no insulation upgrades since it was built.Last edited by Trevor73402; 09-12-2019, 06:22 PM.

Ignore bad reviews, count up the number of GOOD reviews.
As a small business owner, I can promise you, it is like pulling teeth to get people to leave good reviews, even when the same person will send 11 of their friends/family to you.
but sneeze in someones house and they'll blast you across the interwebs for weeks.
