    Welding question

I picked up a Hobart 210. It has the gauges to convert it to gas instead of flux core. For welding it recommends argon 80/20. It also has spool gun capabilities for welding Aluminum. For aluminum it recommends 100% argon.

My question is, can I regular wire weld with 100% argon and only buy one bottle for both or will it not weld right on the 100%?

I believe that you can only use 100% for aluminum. Lower temps won't work with steel.

75-25 argon will work good on steel also

Poor fusion is probably the worst problem going pure argon. Bead profile harder to keep looking good and can cause problems with undercut, etc. Not recommended for regular use but could be used to get you out of a bind or quick fixes that don't require much structural type strength.

Straight argon is for aluminum mig welding only. For steel you need a 75 argon/25 co2 mix or straight co2
